What Music Means to Me

As cleche as it sounds music means the world to me. There isn't a day that goes by where I do not listen to music. I love listening to my favorite vinyls while I do homework. Music not only helps me get things done quicker but it gets my mind off things when I'm struggling with something. Listening to my favorite bands and they're beautiful lyrics inspire me to do big things.

Problems and Struggles

Since the beginning of 2014 to now I have been struggling with health issues. Because of this health issue it has made it very difficult for me everyday. My daily school, social, life has been affected in a drastic way. The fact that I miss so much school and coming back after so long to so much work to catch up on has been an even heavier burden I sometimes can't handle. Once I have caught p in one class I am falling behind in another because of being absent. I not only have to worry about what I eat on a daily basis because of my stomach problem but I have to worry about taking all my medicines on time and then worry about school and also not loose contact with friends. Struggling with side effects of medicines where some days I am incredibly tired and dizzy to the point I can't do anything productive but sleep. My health is a big burden in my life at the moment and it continues to effect my daily life, however I won't let that stop me from doing everything I want to accomplish.

Most Interesting Person

I think the people I find the most interesting are people I don't know but want to know. One person I find really interesting that I wish I could get to know is the guitarist to one of my favorite bands. His name is Daron Malakian and he is the guitarist and singer for System of a Down and Scars on Broadway. I think he is one of the most interesting people I have ever known about. He seems so passionate about important causes like the Armenian Genocide and he sings and write songs so passionately about it. At the same time from being very serious about important topics, he is capable of writing funny songs and being really outgoing. When I got to see him on stage he is a completely different person than when he comes out in interviews. He goes from being this quiet annoyed looking guy to a crazy jumping all around the stage type of guy. I hope one day I get the pleasure to meet and speak to him about his passion for music.

Week of April 10th

This week my group and I were able to complete more editing. Now since we have the clips we want to use we now need to agree on the proper order we want to put them in, in order to make the film effective. I think that is the most difficult part of film making process because we all need to agree on the format of the film which can be a bit hard. However, if we continue editing everyday I believe we can finish next week on friday the 17th.

Working on our Film

This week my group Ale, Sal, and I began looking at the clips of natural disasters we are going to use in our film. We wrote down different natural disasters and began to choose which ones we can use. Seeing the different things that have happened around the lobe was pretty terrifying so it gave us a better perspective on how serious our film had to be. We really have to show how these "natural disasters are no longer "natural" but are being caused by us. Now we need to get together to put all the  clips we have gathered in the proper manner in order to get our message across through this film.

Anti-Drug

I have two anti-drugs first music and second running. I think without these two things I wouldn't be able to manage my stress. Whenever I feel down or stressed I listen to music and it helps me keep my mind off the bad things. The best anti-drug is running and music combined. Too much homework, too many things to deal with I feel a great relief in going for a late night run while listening to my favorite songs. I feel a great sense of accomplishment that really is the best feeling. I don't understand when people say they need drugs in order to feel relaxed and that everything feels better while on them. I really don't see the necessity in harming my body when there are other things that can make you feel the same exact way if not better. I've been a runner for most of my life so when I complete a long run I get what people call a "runners high" it's great, and instead of harming my body I'm making it stronger.

An Inconvenient Truth

Before I watched this film I had former knowledge about it because I read Al Gore's book An Inconvenient Truth. Just watching and reading about it still astonishes me how people still deny the fact that there is global warming and that there is something wrong with our environment. There was parts in the film where I got chills. When Al Gore began to speak about the future flooding that can occur if we don't stop the problem really concerned me. When I saw the short clip of the polar bear just swimming and swimming with no ice for it to rest upon in sight got me angry. It gets me angry that because of our ignorance and destruction we have put upon the Earth other living beings are suffering. People have this mentality that WE are the most superior species, WE own the oceans, WE own the forrests, WE own Earth so that gives us the right to destroy it. In reality this world isn't ours we share it with other living organisms, so if we don't stop with this "macho" mentality that we are the most important species in this planet we will never see a change.
